British Fears over loss of thousands of passports

FEARS were last night raised over the security of the mail service after it emerged almost 3,500 passports have been lost in the post.
The crucial citizenship documents were being returned to driving licence holders from the Swansea-based DVLA when they went missing.
Stolen passports can fetch up to 7,000 each on the black market and are a valuable asset for terrorists or gangs involved in the traffic of illegal immigrants across borders.
